"Startup Weekend: Space" is about bringing some of today's brightest hackers, hipsters and hustlers together to find ways to deliver on that promise. Esther Dyson

Esther Dyson(@edyson on twitter) is chairman of EDventure Holdings. Her primary activity is investing in and nurturing start-ups, with a recent focus on health, human capital and aerospace. Most recently, she founded HICCup (Health Initiative Coordinating Council, www.hiccup.co), dedicated to fostering and measuring the impact of critical-density health programs.

Pete Worden

Director, N.A.S.A. Ames Research Center

Pete Worden, (Brig. Gen., USAF, Ret.) is Director of NASA's Ames Research Center (ARC) at Moffett Field, Calif. Before joining NASA, he held several positions in the United States Air Force and was research professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona, Tucson. He is a recognized expert on space issues – both civil and military. Worden has authored or co-authored more than 150 scientific papers in astrophysics, space sciences, and strategic studies. He served as a scientific co-investigator for two NASA space science missions, and received the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal for the 1994 Clementine mission. He has been named the 2009 Federal Laboratory Consortium Laboratory Director of the Year.

Thomas Atchison

Thomas M. Atchison is the founder and chairman of the Mavericks Civilian Space Foundation, a 501(c)3 California nonprofit education foundation he started in 2007 focused on enabling the personalization of access to space by the common man, through STEM education, research, and competitive challenges.

Mr. Atchison has successfully started four technology ventures, and raised over $30 mm in angel, corporate, and venture capital commitments.
